United Veterans Special Programs

Our mission from the start of our business has been to provide wholesome food to the public at a reasonable price while benefiting veteran farmers and veteran employees. As we have grown we have seen greater needs. One such need is in the United States. There are between 35,000 - 40,000 homeless veterans at any time.

Many people believe that homelessness is a choice due to rental assistance programs available in the United States. The VA does have rental assistance programs that most homeless veterans would qualify for. However, the majority of rental units available are owned by private individuals or corporations that refuse to rent to a veteran who may suffer from PTSD and/or a wide variety of mental illnesses. Many homeless veterans have been evicted for anger outbursts or other unusual behavior.

Most of the housing options that are available are congested apartment complexes or temporary shelters. Many studies have shown that veterans suffering from PTSD or other mental health conditions do better in individual structures rather than multi-unit apartments or shelters.

We at United Veterans Farms are excited to announce we are launching a new non-profit organization titled United Veterans Special Programs. The primary mission of this charity will be to provide stable housing, food, and transportation for homeless veterans. We have set a goal of purchasing multiple tracts of land and erecting 50 single units within the next 2 years. The dwellings will be 14’ x 44’ portable buildings with a modest bathroom, kitchen equipped with a sink, microwave and a small fridge, as well as basic sleeping and sitting furniture. Our plan is to fund this project through profits from our meat sales, individuals and corporate donations as well as grants.

Our total initial cost for land and housing is estimated to be $1,350,000. The veterans will be trained and required to work 10-20 hours a week for United Veterans Farms to help cover the cost of food, utilities, and transportation for medical appointments. We will ensure they will only do work they are capable of doing, respecting all disabilities.

We will be able to collect rent on these units through the rental assistance programs that are available. Any rent that exceeds our cost will be used for other services benefiting disabled veterans. No officer or employee of United Veterans Farms will receive any compensation from donations.

We are placing on our website a feature that will allow anyone to make a tax-deductible donation to this charity. We appreciate any and all donations of any amount. However, we never want anyone to donate anymore than what they can afford. Donations are NOT a requirement to place an order for food from United Veterans Farms.
